Solar Incentives Available for Hawaii Residents
The incentives for switching to solar don’t all revolve around reducing your environmental impact. Residents of Hawaii can also benefit financially from installing solar. The following solar incentives and tax credits are available to you.
Federal Solar Tax Credit (ITC)- In August 2022, Congress passed an extension of the ITC, raising it to 30% for the installation of which was between 2022-2032. Read More Here
Hawaii State Income Tax Credit- Single-family homes can deduct either 35% of their solar energy system cost, or $5,000, off of their income taxes, whichever is less. A solar energy system is considered five kilowatts, meaning single-family homes with a 10-kilowatt solar energy system can deduct $10,000 from their income taxes. Read More Here
Green Energy Money Saver Program (GEMS)- If you are a homeowner with a low- or moderate-income, and you get your power from HECO, you may be eligible for on-bill financing for rooftop solar panels, solar energy batteries, and other renewable energy systems. Read More Here
